Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information whenever a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view times and dates
- Browser type and version
- Device operating system and category
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information for us. No Criminal-Record Data on File
This site does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Jefferson County record custodians, including the sheriff, courts, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies, rather than this policy, govern information submitted through those tools. We cannot set or control a partner's retention and disclosure practices. Review the applicable partner policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Georgia agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may measure activity across websites to select targeted ads. That processing occurs through their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a visitor's query
- Advertising networks placing ads on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than eighteen. If a minor's information is identified, it will be removed after notice.
